Booking terms
Updated
These are the booking terms under which we accept reservations and proposals.
A booking proposal collects the dates, the party composition, the legs of the trip, and the lead guest contact. Reservations responds with a quote, a soft hold, or a request for clarification.
Lifecycle
A proposal moves through six statuses: enquired, composing, quoted, hold, confirmed, cancelled. Reservations advances the status as the lifecycle requires; the guest receives a notification on every status change that concerns them.
A soft hold ring-fences the rooms for forty-eight hours. The hold expires if the deposit does not clear within that window; the rooms return to general availability.
Confirmation and deposit
A booking is confirmed once the deposit has cleared. The deposit is fifty percent of the total booking value or R 10 000, whichever is greater. The balance is due thirty days before arrival.
Payment is processed in South African Rand through the local payment partner. International cards are accepted; the issuing bank applies the prevailing exchange rate at the moment of capture.
Changes by the guest
A change to the dates, the party size, or the legs of a confirmed booking is subject to availability. The lodge applies any rate difference at the rate band of the new dates.
Changes by the lodge
The lodge may close a property for a force majeure event including but not limited to flood, fire, civil unrest, or pandemic-related travel restriction. The lodge offers an equivalent replacement booking or a full refund at the guest’s election.
Multi-property reservations
A multi-property booking covers at least one night at Makakatana plus one or more nights at a partner property. Each property applies its own arrival, departure, and dietary protocols. Transfer logistics are quoted as a separate line on the proposal.
