Lodge rules

Thonga Beach Lodge publishes these rules so a stay runs the way the reserve requires.

Checking in and out

  • The lodge is reached by 4x4Scheduled transfers leave Sodwana Bay at 12:00 and 15:00, pre-booked with reservations; secure parking waits at the pick-up point.
  • Checkout by 10:00The outbound 4x4 transfer departs at 10:30; there are no late departures.
  • Fill up before the sand roadThere is no fuel at the lodge; the nearest pumps are in Hluhluwe.

During your stay

  • Children of all ages are welcomeOne child under 18 may share with two adults; guests over 18 take their own room.
  • Children under 8 dine before 19:00Younger children take an early dinner and leave the bar area by 19:00.
  • Satellite Wi-Fi in the main lodgeEach stay carries a daily data allowance, and there is no cell signal at the lodge.
  • No smoking indoors

On the water

  • Ocean activities carry minimum agesKayaking takes guests from 8 and scuba from 12; the Open Ocean Experience runs from 12 to 65.
  • Guided walks and cultural tours take all ages
